Spend tokens

How can a user spend their tokens?

Cross.social platform offers a variety of services on which users can spend their tokens on. We will now overview the different activities you can spend your tokens on.

Recommending a Page

Recommending a Page: Users can spend tokens to recommend a page that will appear in one of the two top spots of the recommended list located on the main page of Cross.social. This increases the recommended page's recognition and views. Users can recommend their own page or someone else's. Tokens spent on self-recommendations are added to the prize pool and distributed as rewards, while tokens spent on recommending others' pages go to the page owner.

There are two spots at the top of the recommended list, shared and rotated by 10 recommended pages each, totaling 20. The rotation of the recommended pages in each spot is based on time (e.g., every 10 seconds), ensuring equal exposure for each recommendation. The exact spot (first or second) where a recommended page is shown depends on the bid offered – higher bidders are shown in the first spot. Cross.social offers a bidding functionality that provides real-time information on how much to bid for the recommended page to be shown in the first or second recommendation slot.

The minimum fee for recommending a page is 1 USD (equivalent to native tokens) per day.

Another method for users to enhance a page's visibility and popularity is by recommending it at the top of the main search results. Users have the option to recommend their own page or someone else's. When recommending their own page, the tokens spent will be added to the prize pool and distributed as rewards to users. If recommending another user's page, the tokens spent will be given to the owner of the recommended page.

In the quick search, only one spot is available for recommendations, accommodating a total of 10 different recommendations. Each recommendation gets equal exposure, as the rotation of the recommended page is time-based (e.g., every 10 seconds). Cross.social offers a bidding feature that supplies users with real-time information on the bid amount needed for their recommended page to appear in the quick search.

The minimum fee for recommending a page in the quick search is 0.1 USD (equivalent to native tokens) per day.

Recommending a Page in notifications

Cross.social offers yet another method to enhance a page's visibility and popularity: recommending through notifications. When a user recommends a page in this manner, other users receive notifications about the recommended page. If a user opens the notification, they are rewarded with tokens from the recommending user's token pool.

The minimum fee for recommending a page via notifications is 0.1 USD (equivalent to native tokens). However, creating a larger token pool may increase user engagement and willingness to open notifications. It's essential to keep in mind that users can set a minimum compensation threshold for receiving notifications in their "User settings." If the recommending user's token pool is too small, the recommendation may be automatically ignored by some users.

Notification recommendations are limited to once per day, offering a balanced and engaging experience for users across the Cross.social platform.

Recommending a Profile

Users can recommend a profile to appear in one of the two top spots of the recommended profile list, located on the right side of Cross.social's main page. This increases the recommended profile's exposure and recognition. Users can recommend either their own profile or someone else's. If a user recommends their own profile, the spent tokens are added to the prize pool and distributed as rewards to other users. If a user recommends another person's profile, the spent tokens go to the profile owner. This fosters mutual support and enhances exposure and popularity for both parties.

The two top spots in the recommended profile list are shared and rotated by 10 recommended profiles each, making a total of 20. The rotation for each spot is time-based (e.g., every 10 seconds), ensuring equal exposure for each recommendation. The exact spot (first or second) where a recommended profile is displayed depends on the bid offered, with higher bidders appearing in the first spot. Cross.social provides a bidding functionality that offers users real-time information on how much to bid for their recommended profile to appear in the first or second slot.

The minimum fee for recommending a profile is 1 USD (equivalent to native tokens) per day.

Users can also recommend a profile that then appears as a recommendation at the top of the main search. This is another useful way to increase the exposure and popularity of a profile. Users can recommend their profile or someone else's. If a user recommends their profile, spent tokens are added to the prize pool and distributed to users in a form of rewards. If the user recommends someone else's profile, spent tokens go to the owner of the recommended profile.

There is only one spot for recommendations in a quick search, so a total of 10 recommendations can be shown. The rotation of recommended profiles in a search is based on time (for example – every 10 seconds), so every recommendation receives equal exposure. A bidding functionality that helps users by providing real-time information on how much to bid for the recommended profile to be shown in the quick search is available as well.

The minimum fee for recommending a page in a quick search is 0.1 USD (equivalent to native tokens) per day.

Recommending a Profile in notifications

Cross.social provides another way to increase the popularity of a profile – recommending using notifications. When recommending a profile using notifications, users are notified about the recommended profile in the notification list and if a notified user reads the notification (opens it), then he receives tokens as compensation for viewing such notification. A recommending user is required to submit a pool of tokens which is then equally distributed amongst readers of notification. This is a great way to recommend a page and a win-win situation for everyone.

The minimum fee for recommending a profile in the notification is 0.1 USD (equivalent to native tokens). However, the bigger the token pool, the more users will be active and willing to open notifications. Please remember that there is a setting under “User settings” which allows users to set a minimum threshold of compensation for receiving notifications. Therefore your recommendation will be automatically ignored if the submitted pool of tokens is insignificant.

The limit for notification is once per day.

Recommending an article in Quick Search

Users can also recommend a profile to appear as a recommendation at the top of the main search, serving as an alternative method for increasing exposure and popularity. Users can recommend either their own profile or someone else's. When a user recommends their profile, the spent tokens are added to the prize pool and distributed as rewards to other users. If a user recommends another person's profile, the spent tokens go to the profile owner.

In the quick search, there is only one spot for profile recommendations, allowing for a total of 10 recommendations to be displayed. The rotation of recommended profiles is based on time (e.g., every 10 seconds), providing equal exposure for each recommendation. A bidding functionality is also available, offering users real-time information on how much to bid to have their recommended profile displayed in the quick search.

The minimum fee for recommending a profile in a quick search is 0.1 USD (equivalent to native tokens) per day.

Recommending an article in notifications

Cross.social offers an effective way to boost article popularity through recommendations via notifications. When a user recommends an article using notifications, other users are notified about it. If a notified user opens the notification, the article's author receives tokens as compensation for their content. Authors only receive tokens when users open the notifications.

If a user recommends their own article, the tokens are directed to the reward pool. If they recommend another author's article, all tokens go to the article's author. This creates a supportive environment for content creators.

The minimum fee for recommending an article in notifications is 0.1 USD (equivalent to native tokens).

Recommending a wall post in notifications

Cross.social simplifies sharing thoughts by recommending wall posts using notifications. When recommending a post, users are notified about it. If a user opens the notification, the post's author receives tokens as compensation. Authors only receive tokens when users open the notifications.

If a user recommends their own wall post, the tokens go to the reward pool. If they recommend another author's post, all tokens go to the post's author, fostering a supportive atmosphere.

The minimum fee for recommending a wall post in notifications is 0.1 USD (equivalent to native tokens).

Recommending a feed post

Cross.social enables users to support authors, writers, and content creators by recommending their posts to appear in other users' feeds. When a post is recommended, all tokens go to the author. If a user recommends their own post, tokens are directed to the reward pool. Users must click the posts for the author to receive a reward, promoting support for deserving authors.

The minimum fee for recommending a feed post is 0.1 USD (equivalent to native tokens).

Recommending a discover section

The Discover section on Cross.social is an excellent way for users to find new pages, articles, posts, or profiles and broaden their interests. Users can recommend content in this section to give it increased exposure and recognition. They can recommend their own content or that of others. If they recommend another author's content, tokens are directed to the author. If they recommend their own content, tokens go to the reward pool.

The minimum fee for recommending content in the Discover section is 0.1 USD (equivalent to native tokens).

Becoming a contributing follower

Cross.social supports authors and content creators by allowing them to create local communities of followers who can provide financial backing. Community moderators can set different membership levels with varying prices and access to content. Users can support content creators by becoming contributing followers, granting them access to the creator's complete and up-to-date work in return.

All tokens generated through this process go to the community owner.

Emoji

Emoji is a cute way of supporting your favorite creator. Users can use different types of unique emojis to interact with posts, comments, and articles. All tokens spent buying emojis go directly to an author as a reward. If a user interacts with his own content, tokens are directed to the reward pool.

These are different types of emojis followed by pricing and explanations of what they do:

Super comment

When users want to make a statement in a heated discussion, they can use a "Super Comment" to pin their comment above others and highlight it for everyone to see. By purchasing a "Super Comment," users support the author of a post or article. If users interact with their own content, spent tokens are directed to the reward pool.

The minimum fee for a Super Comment is 0.5 USD (equivalent to native tokens).

Support author

Cross.social strongly supports content creators and freedom of speech. Users can support authors by contributing to them, with "contribute" links located under every article for easy navigation. Cross.social also provides a list of authors for users to choose from. Tokens are sent directly to the author, or to the reward pool if supporting oneself as an author.

Support profile

Cross.social enables users to support each other by sending tokens directly to another user's profile. The recipient is informed about the sender's support. Tokens are sent to the profile, except when supporting one's own profile, in which case tokens go to the rewards pool.

Direct message

Users on Cross.social can message friends and followers by default. Messages from friends go to the main inbox, while messages from followers go to a separate inbox. Followers don't know if their message has been read. Cross.social allows users to direct message anyone by paying the recipient to read the message. The recipient must open the message to receive tokens. Paid messages go to the primary inbox.

If interacting with one's own content, tokens go to the reward pool.

The minimum fee for an anonymous post or comment is 1 USD (equivalent to native tokens).

Create poll

Users can create polls to gather public opinions or information. When creating a poll, the user sets a budget (pool of tokens) distributed evenly among participants who answer the poll. The budget affects poll visibility and duration. Tokens are directed to the reward pool when interacting with one's own poll.
